Meetings Specialization – Energy & Utilities

The Energy & Utilities industry is concentrated around media flow and performance of the tasks for satisfying the collective needs of municipal communities. It is mainly implemented by the managerial administration, though supported by internal proprietary instruments. They include water and sewage companies, heat, power and natural gas distribution companies. Such organizations are obliged to comply with the proper standards regarding the safety of raw material deliveries. They must limit the utilities' impact on the natural environment, and deliver them to the customer at the lowest possible final cost. In order to survive on the market, companies are obliged to meet regulatory requirements (e.g. the Act on types of used fuels, standards concerning water treatment, or conditions of heating systems operations).

Currently, the Polish market is comprised of more than 11.5 thousand business entities that operate in the municipal management industry. Nearly 80% of them employ up to 9 employees. Large companies which generate most of the industry's revenue, constitute only a small percentage (nearly 10%). Companies of that sector operate in almost every larger town or city.

The length of the water supply and sewer network is nearly 410 000 km. The most developed water supply systems can be found in the Śląskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Łódzkie provinces. The largest coverage of sewer networks is present in the Śląskie, Podkarpackie and Małopolskie provinces. The length of the gas grid in Poland is more than 137 000 km with the majority in the Mazowieckie and Śląskie provinces. The longest heat power infrastructure is located the Śląskie, Małopolskie and Łódzkie provinces. Their total length exceeds 20 000 km.

Entrepreneurs still complain about the large number of documents transferred between departments. They indicate that they must manage a great quantity of data emerging in real-time or in a given time period. For this purpose they seek optimal solutions for improving the electronic circulation of documents. Managers are interested in the systems' ability to create advanced reports and analyses for the needs of the management staff. Such functionality is supported by Business Intelligence class systems. A distinctive tool in the Energy & Utilities industry are billing systems that enable the readout and retail utilities sale management. Their functionalities are more and more often integrated into ERP class company management systems. The same class of solutions also enables monitoring warehouse inventory, managing fixed resources and personnel. By means of SCADA class systems, entrepreneurs can monitor the municipal infrastructure parameters (i.a. pressure and temperature).
